Local Area

Country life has something for everyone. In addition to the facilities on the Park, there are six rural villages within 6 miles of your doorstep each offering unique events, markets, pubs and restaurants with a local feel.

The picturesque local village of Hambleton is a short drive from the Park & boasts an excellent selection of shops, restaurants & pubs.

There is an 18 Hole golf course at Knott End and a 9 Hole at Poulton. Outdoor Bowling is available at Stalmine. Nature trails criss-cross the area, whilst cycling and fishing are all nearby.

Just a short drive from Hambleton Country Park are literally the “Bright Lights” of Blackpool with its world famous Illuminations, Tower and three piers. Take the grandchildren on a tram ride to South Shore where the white knuckle rides of the Pleasure Beach are near the indoor fun of the Sandcastle as well as countless pubs and night clubs in Britain’s premier seaside resort.

The town can also boast year round shows at the Opera House, the Winter Gardens and the historic Blackpool Grand Theatre, catering for all tastes. More family fun is available at the Tower Circus and Blackpool Zoo.

Outside Blackpool are the smaller towns: to the north, the port of Fleetwood with its marina and Freeport Shopping Centre, the markets and windmill at Thornton Cleveleys and to the south Lytham St.Annes with it famous golf courses. All are connected by miles of sandy beaches the length of the Fylde Coast.

Across the River Wyre is Poulton-le-Fylde, a lovely, typically English town built around St Chads church. As well as many shops, pubs, churches and even ancient stocks, Poulton is fast becoming an international dining location. In the tour around the town you can find no less than three Italian restaurants, two Thai, two Chinese, a French and an Indian. In addition there is a traditional fish & chip shop and several varieties of take aways.

Going further Over Wyre are the villages of St Michael and Garstang (becoming famous for its cheeses). Going north you can take in the City of Lancaster or the Lake District is only an hour away by car.

Good train connections are available from either Poulton-le-Fylde or Preston Stations.
